Episode for the Winchester side opens with Sam getting a call from John. He tells him that both Mary and Jess were killed by a demon, and John is narrowing in on it. Sam is mad that he's not allowed to go help because John says it's too dangerous, so he and Dean get into a fight about it on the way to a hunt John sends them on. Sam takes off and goes hitchiking, where he meets Meg. And then he heads out to the bus depot, where he meets Meg again. And she's manipulating him, but he doesn't know it. Sam decides not to go to California, he goes to save Dean instead.
